What is a desired heartrate for doing cardio excercise?

What is the desired heart rate for someone who works out? My normal heartrate is 80 beats per minute. I am 6%26#039;2%26quot; and 180lbs.



I usually run / bike on the equipment at the gym for 30 minutes and my heart rate is between 150-160 Beats per minute. Is this fine?

80 is a high resting heart rate for someone who does regular cardio. Regular cardio done properly will normally bring your resting heart rate down near 60 or less over time



Other factors to consider: 1) your age, 2) do you do a 10 minute warm-up and 5-10 minute cooldown, 3) are you ever noticeably breathing hard.



A general age max heart rate is 220 - age. If very fit, you can do about 80-85% of (220-age). If starting out, 65% of (220- age) is good, and work up over time as long as it feel easy to continue.



When you slow down, your heart rate should drop 30 points in 2 minutes, and to normal in 10 minutes. If not, you are working to hard, or need check out by a doctor.



During the cardio exercise, if your heat rate stays constant for a long time, then starts to increase minute by minute, its time to do your cooldown, or at least slow down for a few minutes, as that rise indicate heart fatique coming on and a slow building of insufficient oxygen to the heart itself.



Don%26#039;t do hard cardio daily. Alternating hard and easy is better for you.
